Like my only, younger brother, Kyle was born in 1964. We met online and in phone conference calls beginning in 2002. We met in person in October 2002 at a Bioneers Conference held in Marin, where we tabled 9/11 Truth information and got to know one another better. Like my younger brother, Kyle, had a captain’s license and worked as a yacht captain, delivering boats from one port to another. I had spent yeasrs sailing and introduced my brother to sailing, and gotten him his first crewing job. The only thing sailors like to do more than sail is talk about sailing, and Kyle was a very good talker; he was personable, intelligent, and had a very strong spirit, and was passionate on the issue of 9/11 Truth, and devoted many years of his life to it.
We were both not particularly flush with money, and I relied on donations from tabling to do the organizing work. The money we gleaned from the Bioneers was the seed money for the first printing of 5000 Deception Dollars which we soon gave away at an anti-war protest that month. We raised money for a larger printing, they were so popular and realized that they could help fund the best websites and the budding 9/11 Truth Movement. We launched a lot of efforts in 2002, most significantly, Kyle organized a Press Conference in Washington DC entitled 9-11 and the Public Safety: Seeking Answers and Accountability, and he tried to organize a “ Citizen’s Inquiry of 9-11” at the grassroots level. In December we launched the 9/11 Truth Alliance. His Press Conference formed the nucleus of the excellent documentary by Guerrilla New Network- Aftermath-Unanswered Questions from 9/11.
Back then, I was busy with my kids and couldn’t easily travel to activists’ events. Kyle was single and living on the East Coast, he joined forces with John Judge and they created 9/11 Citizen’s Watch, and worked very closely with the victim’s families, notably The Family Steering Committee, who were pushing for an investigation. It was a huge effort, as well as monitoring the Commission, and their public hearings. They tried unsuccessfully to pressure the “Cover-up Commission” into asking hard questions, and addressing those questions. They had to painfully witness the gross conflicts of interest, the way the Commission refused to get witnesses to testify or address key questions that the victims’ families raised.
Another early 9/11 Truth Activist, Michael Kane wrote this about Kyle:
“I first met Kyle 23 years ago in NYC where he was doing ground breaking, historic work investigating 9-11. I worked with Kyle on many projects, but most notably I helped him put together an event at Riverside Church on 9-11-03 featuring Cynthia McKinney, Mike Ruppert (RIP), John Judge (RIP), Ray McGovern and more. Over 2,000 people attended that 9-11 Truth event which was nothing short of epic!
Ironically Dick Cheney “crashed” our event just before it started (with his Secret Service detail and all!).”
That’s impressive! That shows how powerful grassroots organizing can be.
I also remember when Kyle visited me and asked to see my “mailing list;” he was utterly horrified at how “disorganized I was.” John Judge, also, spent 2 hours on the phone with me trying to discourage me from organizing the San Francisco International Inquiry into 9/11. I had great respect for both Kyle and John and Citizen’s Watch and their work, but I did the best that I could do, and they did what they could do, and the 9/11 Truth Movement continued to grow from the countless efforts of activists from all over the country and the world.
Kyle was not a film maker, until he developed the skills, experience, and put in the hours and effort required to produce 9/11 Press for Truth, one of the best 9/11 Truth outreach tools, as well as the companion DVD, In their Own Words, which includes over 2 hours of additional material from the very powerful interviews with the “Jersey Girls.”
Kyle was passionate about many political issues, including the health freedom issue. He was deeply moral, and lived by his convictions. He ventured down to Costa Rica in 2009, to begin a project with his family. Fortunately, there he finally met the love of his life, Hellen; they married and Hellen gave birth to their son, Kainoah in 2019.
Unfortunately, he did have a heart condition, and passed away, somewhat prematurely, last December. It is a great loss for his wife and young son, as well as for the world; we must be grateful for the time he was here and how much he gave to all of us with his tremendous spirit, commitment, talent and passion for truth, justice, peace, health, and life.
In the aftermath of Kyle’s death, his brother, Maxson, organized a GoFundMe campaign to help his wife and son move forward.
Maxson’s moving tribute to his brother concluded with a special message: “In the end, Kyle’s life taught me this—the only thing that lasts is love.”
You probably have seen bits and pieces or the entire 9/11 Press for Truth film, and we are just going to show a few excerpts, but it is always deeply moving and stands the test of time, as a tribute to those who were loved and lost on September 11th,, as well as those who died from its terrible aftermath, to whom we owe the truth, and our efforts to move us towards a brighter future.
